If someone has issues with any policies, procedures, rules, regulations, or the overall management of the League itself, it can be addressed by the Organization Committee or the Board of Directors. In these cases, the Care Committee may refer your concerns to the appropriate committee.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Care Committee also strives to provide resources to league members about tools and strategies to address conflict in a respectful and productive way. Fears of ruining relationships, being hurt emotionally, ruining the vibe, confronting a power dynamic, and tackling our own inner attachment and conflict styles are all real and understandable reasons to avoid a conflict. But avoidance does not mean the conflict will go away. Care Committee members are there to help identify needs, uncover pain points, suggest possible solutions and offer support, not to take control (we\u2019re not the cops!).<\/span><\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"list-style-type: disc; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Care Committee members may offer tools or tactics for you to use in conversation with those you\u2019re in conflict with. This doesn\u2019t mean the Committee member will always be available or present for all discussions or meetings.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"list-style-type: disc; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">While Committee members will do their best with confidentiality, they may, and probably will, consult with other Care Committee members for support. There may also be instances where the Care Committee needs to consult the Board of Directors for guidance.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14.6667px; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Someone has violated the community agreement: <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anyone who has experienced racism, ableism, transphobia, bullying, or any other problematic behaviour that violates the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bmqs.ca\/en\/about-us\/community-agreement\/\"><b>Community Agreement<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by one or several players in the League should file a formal complaint.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon receiving a formal complaint, the Care Committee will take the following steps:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A sub-committee will be formed to handle the complaint. Members of the sub-committee will ensure they do not have any conflict of interest.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of the sub-committee will reach out to the person who submitted the complaint (AKA the \u201ccomplainant\u201d) to discuss the complaint and potential ways forward.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As needed, members of the sub-committee will meet with the subject of the complaint (AKA the \u201crespondent\u201d) to discuss the situation and potential ways forward.<\/span><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: the final decision of the Care Committee may not be the complainant or respondent\u2019s preferred resolution.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If warranted, the sub-committee members may, at their discretion, meet with any witnesses and\/or other BMQS members in order to gain a full understanding of the complaint.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sub-committee members, the complainant, and the respondent will work together to find a suitable resolution.This may include, but is not limited to:<\/span><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meeting with all parties involved in an effort to find a solution and\/or understand needs for accountability. Individual meetings or a group meeting can be proposed to better understand the situation and find a suitable solution.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Writing an official warning letter to the respondent, clearly explaining the problematic behaviour, the league\u2019s expectations, and the conditions necessary for the person to remain welcome at BMQS activities.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take no outward action, but hold the complaint in archives and, if the person accumulates numerous complaints, further measures may be implemented.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suspension or expulsion of any member who has violated the community agreement.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once resolved, the Care committee will archive the complaint confidentially.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<details id=\"e-n-accordion-item-3782\" class=\"e-n-accordion-item\" >\n\t\t\t\t<summary class=\"e-n-accordion-item-title\" data-accordion-index=\"3\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"e-n-accordion-item-3782\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class='e-n-accordion-item-title-header'><div class=\"e-n-accordion-item-title-text\"> Exclusion or Suspension from League Activities: <\/div><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class='e-n-accordion-item-title-icon'>\n\t\t\t<span class='e-opened' ><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class='e-closed'><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n\t\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"e-n-accordion-item-3782\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e0e58ce e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"e0e58ce\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"e-n-accordion-item-3782\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9a09dc e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"e9a09dc\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bd0ffe2 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bd0ffe2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In certain circumstances, and in accordance with BMQS Bylaws, the Board of Directors has the ability to suspend or exclude any member from League participation. In these circumstances, the Care Committee will take the complaint to the Board of Directors who will follow the exclusion process laid out in the BMQS Bylaws.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such circumstances may include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a severe violation of the Community Agreement<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A respondent\u2019s behaviour puts any member at risk of serious harm<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A respondent repeats problematic behaviour after official warnings from the Care Committee and\/or Board of Directors<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A respondent is subject to another kind of complaint<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A respondent fails to comply with the conditions laid out in a resolution<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any other reason deemed appropriate by the Care Committee and\/or Board of Directors<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will not tolerate the behaviour of certain individuals undermining the presence of others.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #0ca8b4; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold;\">Once a suspension\/exclusion period has elapsed,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0the Board of Directors and\/or Care Committee will meet with the respondent, if they wish to reintegrate into the league. Depending on the outcome of this meeting, the Board of Directors and\/or Care Committee may decide to:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">immediately reintegrate the person,\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">extend the suspension\/expulsion, or\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exclude the person from the league for an indefinite period.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #0ca8b4; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold;\">Suspension pending investigation:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0At the discretion of the Care Committee, during extreme circumstances, respondents may be suspended from participation in BMQS activities while the committee investigates. This requires a decision from the Board of Directors as per BMQS bylaws. A suspension pending investigation in no way implies guilt.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #0ca8b4; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold;\">Privacy:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All complaints will be kept private amongst the members of the Care Committee (and the Board in certain cases, as needed), unless explicit consent is given by the person making the complaint to disclose information to other parties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; color: #0ca8b4; font-weight: bold;\">Timeline:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">The committee is obliged to respond to the complaints as quickly as possible.Note that any complaints submitted during the off season (September-April) may take longer to respond to.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #0ca8b4; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold;\">Statue of Limitations:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0the Committee is not able to address conflicts from previous seasons unless a conflict was related to something especially egregious (violence, bullying, harassment, etc.).
